How to get to Singapore?

When we travel to Singapore we usually do it from Madrid, so we fly with Iberia Airlines to Doha (Qatar) and then Qatar Airways to Singapore. We actually offer a 5% direct discount in Qatar Airways to our readers which you can use in all flights anytime of the year!

We really fly with Qatar a lot and it is one of our favorite companies. It is also part of the One World program so we get Avios, like with Iberia. Back to our topic, getting to Singapore is fairly easy, thanks to its well-connected Changi Airport, one of the best airports in the world. It is not just an airport but a destination in itself: think indoor waterfalls, lush gardens, and even a rooftop pool!

Every time we have to catch a flight at Changi we actually go 3 hours aprox. early instead of 2 to have enough time to see the incredible waterfall. It is actually the world’s tallest indoor waterfall and it is quite impressive so I do recommend seeing it at least once!

How to get from Changi Airport to Singapore city center?

Once you arrive to the airport, getting into the city is seamless:

  • The MRT (subway or train) is the most budget-friendly option, taking around 30 to 45 minutes to reach the city center. It can be quicker than the bus but you usually you have to make a transfer, which can be uncomfortable if you are carrying luggage.
  • Public buses also work very well and it is what we usually use because they usually take us directly very close to where we stay, like 50 meters away. Buses number 24, 27, 24, 26, 53, 110 and 858 travel to the city center from terminals 1, 2 and 3 in Changi Airport. From terminal 4, use 24, 34, 36 or 110. We usually take 36 and it takes around 40 to 45 minutes, depending on the traffic and time of day. I prefer the bus to the train
  • Taxis and ride-hailing apps like Grab are also convenient if you have luggage or prefer a direct ride. If you’re staying at one of the unique hotels in Singapore we suggest in this article, some even offer private transfers, making your arrival extra smooth.

  1. Jumbo Seafood (ION Orchard) – The best spot to try the famous Singapore chili crab in a more upscale setting, but still reasonably priced for the quality.
  2. Little Farms Market (Guoco Tower) – A great place for fresh, healthy meals and organic produce.
  3. Liao Fan Hawker Chan (Chinatown) – The world’s first Michelin-starred hawker stall, famous for its soy sauce chicken rice.
  4. EC Coffee Bar (Boat Quay) – A cozy café for great coffee and light bites, conveniently located next to another Jumbo Seafood.
  5. Glasshouse (Near Raffles Hotel) – A beautiful café serving excellent breakfast and lunch—we absolutely loved it!
  6. Din Tai Fung – A popular Taiwanese restaurant chain known for its incredible xiao long bao (soup dumplings).
  7. Entre-Nous Crêperie – A charming French spot serving delicious sweet and savory crêpes.
  8. Narrative Coffee Stand – A cute cafe for specialty coffee lovers.
  9. Bugis Market – A great place to try affordable local street food, with a vintage market on Saturdays for some fun shopping.
  10. Little India: Gokul Rass Vegetarian Restaurant – A fantastic vegetarian spot with flavorful Indian dishes. (Picture below)
  11. MTR Singapore Vegetarian Restaurant – Another great vegetarian option, serving authentic South Indian cuisine.

The left picture is the lovely Pad Thai we had when we arrived this last time in March 2025 in a Maxwell Centre in Chinatown. Next to it the Indian restaurant Gokul Rass in Little India. 🙂 Generally, we like to keep our meals simple but delicious. I also tried the Pan Naan on the Maxwell Centre in Little India which literally felt like being in India!! Very authentic.

The best time to visit Singapore is from February to April, during the dry season, when there is less rainfall and lower humidity. However, since Singapore has a tropical climate, it is warm and humid year-round, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 31°C (77°F to 88°F).

Seasonal Breakdown:

  • February to April (Best Time) → Dry season, pleasant weather, ideal for outdoor activities.
  • May to September → Hotter and hazier due to the Southwest Monsoon.
  • November to January → Rainy season, higher humidity, but festive vibes with Christmas and Chinese New Year.

If you want fewer crowds and lower hotel rates, consider visiting between July and September, except during major events like the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix (mid-September).
