9 Unique Boutique Hotels in Lima

Looking for the best boutique hotels in Lima? These 9 unique stays handpicked by me offer beautiful design and comfort, all in great neighborhoods.

Hi and welcome from Madrid, Spain! The last time I visited Lima was in 2024 with one of my best friends, Karla, and I actually want to dedicate this article to her to thank her for such an unforgettable trip. We had the most magical trip around Peru, exploring Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley. Every moment felt special, and it was such a lovely experience to share with someone so close. Thank you chaps!

One of the highlights of our trip was, of course, the food. We really ate so well, sampling traditional Peruvian dishes, trying out secret restaurants our friends recommended, and indulging in flavors we’ll never forget. Lima, in particular, felt like a foodie paradise, full of incredible restaurants and markets to explore.

As always, we spent quite a lot of time searching for unique places to stay. Finding hotels with soul, beautiful design, and comfort is always part of the fun for me. After all our searching, I wanted to make it easier for you!

So, to save you time and effort, I’ve put together a list of the most unique boutique hotels in Lima. These are the places that truly stood out to us during our stay: charming, stylish, and full of authenticity, what I search for the most. Keep reading for my top recommendations!

Getting to and Around Lima

The easiest way to reach Lima is by air, arriving at Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM), about 10 km from the city center.

Flights from Madrid, for example, take around 12–13 hours, and Lima is the perfect starting point for exploring Peru, including Cusco and Machu Picchu.

  • From the Airport: Take a taxi, ride-hailing app (Uber, Beat, Cabify), or hotel transfer to reach Miraflores or Barranco in about 30–40 minutes.

Getting Around Lima

Lima is best explored using ride-hailing apps like Uber, Beat, or Cabify:they’re safe, reliable, and inexpensive.

Some neighborhoods, like Miraflores and Barranco, are very walkable, perfect for exploring parks, the coast, and colorful streets.

For longer distances, you can use private transfers, while public transport is available but less convenient for visitors.

Where to Eat in Lima, Peru

Where to eat in Lima – my personal favorites 😊

I’m Spanish and very used to eating well, but in Peru, and especially in Lima, I really, really ate incredibly well, every single meal felt like an experience rather than just food, so do yourself a favor and make sure you book ahead of time because the best places fill up fast!

  • Astrid y Gastón: A true Lima classic and always worth it; refined, thoughtful, and a full culinary experience (book ahead).

Other Things to Know before visiting Lima, Peru

Best Things to Do in Lima, Peru

There are so many things to explore in Lima, but these are some of our favorites when staying at one of the most unique hotels in Lima:

  • We took this tour ourselves and can absolutely recommend the Lima City Tour: Historic Center, Love Park & Catacombs. It’s a great way to get a feel for the city in a short time, from wandering through the beautiful historic center to enjoying the ocean views at Love Park, and the catacombs were surprisingly fascinating.
  • If you’re into food, I personally recommend the Lima: Ultimate Peruvian Food Tour, it’s such a fun (and delicious) way to experience the city and really understand why Peruvian cuisine is famous around the world.

Best time to Visit Lima, Peru

If I were giving you the quick, honest answer as a friend, I’d say the best time to visit Lima is from May to October. It’s cooler, drier, and perfect for walking around neighborhoods like Miraflores and Barranco without dealing with heat or heavy rain.

You’ll get that classic coastal vibe, cloudy skies, but comfortable temps, and it’s great for food tours and city exploring. December to April is warmer and sunnier, which sounds tempting, but it can feel a bit humid and busier, especially around holidays.

Personally, I love Lima in the cooler months, it feels relaxed, local, and ideal for actually enjoying the city rather than planning your day around the weather, although I also visited once in April and it was warm but sunny!

Traveling around South America and Final Thoughts

Exploring Peru and staying at some of the most unique boutique hotels in Lima was such an unforgettable experience, and getting around the country was easier than I expected. From Lima to Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley, we used a mix of domestic flights, comfortable buses, and private transfers, making it simple to see so much in one trip. Peru’s landscapes, food, and culture are incredible, and I can’t wait to return!

Having lived for a year in Mexico City, I’ve been lucky to explore so many corners of both North and South America. I can’t wait to share more about all the beautiful countries I’ve visited and the unforgettable experiences I’ve had along the way.

Stay tuned for more travel stories, hotel recommendations, and tips to help you plan your own adventures across the Americas!

With love,
Irene
