If you’re looking for the best hotels in the Dolomites, you’re in for something really special! I’m originally from Madrid, my family is from Barcelona, but I actually lived in Milan for a year for work and honestly, that’s when I completely fell in love with northern Italy.

I was lucky enough to visit the Dolomites so many times, especially because one of my close friends was living in Bolzano, so it became one of those places I kept going back to again and again.

In this article, I’ve put together a list of the most unique and best hotels in the Dolomites, places with incredible service, beautiful design, and that special cozy atmosphere you only find in the mountains.

Some are perfect for a romantic, adults-only escape, others are amazing if you’re traveling as a family, but all of them have that wow factor that makes a trip here unforgettable, as finding them is my purpose!

Getting to and Around the Dolomites, Italy

Getting to the Dolomites is actually pretty easy, but it does take a bit of planning: the closest airports are Venice, Milan, and Innsbruck, and from there you’ll need to drive.

Renting a car is definitely the best option, especially if you want the freedom to explore different valleys, lakes, and viewpoints at your own pace. During my time living in Milan, I would often just rent a car and head up for the weekend, it’s such an easy and beautiful road trip.

Personally, I’m also a huge fan of trains, Europe’s rail connections are fantastic, and it’s always a pleasure to travel while enjoying the scenery. In Italy and Spain trains work really well! I usually buy my train tickets here.

Best Time to Visit Dolomites, Italy

The best time to visit the Dolomites really depends on what kind of trip you’re after: for skiing and that magical snowy landscape, December to March is perfect, with cozy hotels and some of the best slopes in Europe.

But if you’re more into hiking, lakes, and those insane mountain views, then June to September is honestly my favorite time to go, everything is green, the weather is ideal, and places like Lago di Braies look unreal. Personally, I love late June or September the most: fewer crowds, beautiful light, and still amazing weather.

Traveling around Italy and Final Thoughts

Traveling around Italy is one of those experiences that never gets old, every region feels completely different, which is what makes it so special.

You’ve got the history and energy of Rome, the style and city life of Milan, the dramatic coastline of the Amalfi Coast, the rolling hills and countryside in Tuscany, and then places like the Aeolian Islands that feel a bit more off-the-beaten-path and really magical.

It’s the kind of country where you can keep coming back and always discover something new, which is exactly why I love Italy so much.
