I grew up in Madrid, but we’ve been coming to Mallorca since we were little. My family has an apartment here, and I now live between Madrid and Mallorca. After exploring every corner of it over the years, I can confidently say: some of the most beautiful experiences are found in the agroturismos of Mallorca.
If you’ve never stayed in an agroturismo before, you’ will love the experience! These are traditional rural hotels in Mallorca — often converted fincas or farmhouses — set in stunning countryside locations, surrounded by olive groves, vineyards, or the Tramuntana mountains.

✈️The easiest way to reach Mallorca is by plane. The island’s main airport, Palma de Mallorca Airport, is well connected to many European cities. I usually fly with Iberia Express, Vueling and Volotea — they have great prices and frequent flights from mainland Spain and Europe.
⛴️ You can also get to Mallorca by ferry from cities like Barcelona or Valencia. It’s a longer journey (around 6–8 hours), but it can be a fun experience — especially if you're bringing your own car or just want to enjoy the scenic ride across the Mediterranean. I usually take the ferry with Balearia! They work very well.
Getting Around Mallorca, Spain
Once you land, you’ve got two main options for getting around:
🚗 Renting a car is the best idea if you want to explore the island at your own pace and specifically if you are going to stay at a rural hotel. I usually rent a car every time I visit by land and really love the freedom! I just try to avoid the super busy areas at peak times. My favorite companies, and the ones I usually use, are OK Mobility, Centauro and Record GO.

🚌 Public buses are also a good option — they connect Palma with most major towns and beaches, and they’re very budget-friendly, but maybe they are not such a great idea if you are planning to stay in one of the beautiful rural hotels in Mallorca I will propose in this article.
If you are planning on staying at an Agroturismo in Mallorca, I would definitely suggest renting a car!

Son Gener is one of my favorite hotels in Mallorca. It’s this incredibly peaceful rural escape in the countryside of Son Servera. Everything here is designed to help you slow down—minimalist decor, quiet gardens, and two dreamy pools. The rooms are spacious and calm, the food is delicious, and the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. It’s the kind of place you never want to leave! In addition, Son Servera is located on the quiet northeast coast of Mallorca, just a short drive from the long sandy beach of Cala Millor, the charming historic town of Artà, the upscale coastal area of Costa de los Pinos, and the peaceful beach and caves of Canyamel. It’s an ideal base if you’re looking for a rural escape with easy access to beautiful beaches and small, authentic towns.

If you're looking for one of the best agroturismos in Mallorca, The Lodge is a dream. It’s near Sa Pobla, a charming town in northern Mallorca, pretty close to the popular beach town of Puerto de Alcúdia (about 10 minutes by car) and not far from Pollensa (around 15 minutes). It is super peaceful, surrounded by nature. and it feels calm and thoughtful — from the beautiful rooms to the scent of lavender in the air. We visited in May 2025 and honestly didn’t want to leave! Lol.

Agroturismo Son Fogueró is one of best finca hotels in Mallorca. There are very few people around, no noise at all, just amazing peaceful scenery everywhere you look. Because the hotel has such a small, limited number of rooms, you don’t have to stress about crowded pools or busy dining areas, everything is super calm The breakfast is one of the best parts; they cook everything fresh right after you order it, which feels very nice. Just a heads up, you’ll definitely want to rent a car because there’s no bus nearby, but it’s only a quick 5-minute drive to the nearest town, Sineu, which is cute and easy to get to. Perfect if you want to escape the crowds!

Valldemossa, Mallorca

We absolutely loved visiting Agroturismo Son Viscos! It’s super peaceful and surrounded by nature, with a wild garden and views that feel straight out of a dream. The breakfast is amazing, the rooms are full of charm, and the vibe is very relaxing. It’s a 10-minute walk into Valldemossa, one of the most beautiful villages in Mallorca, and the staff makes every guest feel right at home! We’d would stay here without a thought!.

Sa Pedrissa is a very romantic little hotel is set in a 17th-century country house that once belonged to Archduke Louis Salvador of Austria — how magical is that? It’s now a protected historic site, and you can still feel the soul of the place in its old stone walls and original details. But don’t worry, they’ve added all the luxuries too: a gorgeous pool overlooking the coast, peaceful gardens, and beautiful rooms. Deia is also such a beautiful village. You won't want to leave!

Es Racó d' Artà is an eco-luxury retreat that is much more than a hotel; it’s an experience. Set on a beautifully restored finca, everything here invites you to slow down and relax. There’s also an outdoor heated pool, a beautiful spa with a full water circuit and hammam, and even a tennis court and free bikes if you’re up for exploring the area, which I highly recommend you do!

If you're looking for a magical Mallorcan escape away from it all, this is it. Located right up in the hills above Port de Sóller, Muleta de Ca S'hereu Agroturismo sits in the middle of ancient olive groves with stunning views down to the sea and sunsets that actually feel unreal! It really feels like something out of a movie: a preserved olive press, a tiny chapel, forest trails on the property, and a pool overlooking the valley. The location is dreamy, but yes, be warned, the road up is steep and narrow. Still, once you're there, it's absolutely worth it!

𑁍 Best Time of year to Visit an Agroturismo inMallorca, Spain
The best time of the year to visit Mallorca depends on the type of experience you’re seeking:
Spring (April to June): Perfect for mild weather, blooming landscapes, and fewer tourists. Ideal for hiking in the Serra de Tramuntana, exploring quaint villages, and enjoying outdoor activities.
Summer (July to September): Peak season with warm temperatures, lively beaches, and vibrant nightlife. It’s the best time for beach lovers and those who want to enjoy Mallorca’s festivals and lively atmosphere. Bear in mind in summer there is a lot of traffic and crowds everywhere. I usually don't travel to Mallorca during the summer months of July and August.
Autumn (September to October): Quieter than summer but still warm, with pleasant weather for sightseeing and enjoying the sea. It’s also harvest season, making it great for food lovers.
Winter (November to March): Mallorca’s off-season is calm and cooler, perfect for hiking, cycling, and exploring the cultural and historical sites without crowds. Many coastal resorts are quieter, but Palma remains vibrant.
For a balanced experience, mid April to early June and September to mid November are considered the best months to visit Mallorca and my favorite too! You’ll enjoy great weather, fewer crowds, and a more authentic local vibe.
𑁍 Best eSIM Option for Reliable Data in Spain
We live in Madrid but we have an apartment in Puerto Portals, in the south west of the island, only 15 minutes away from Palma. As we are Spanish and live in Spain most of the year, we don't need an eSim here, but when we travel we always use this eSIM because it’s the cheapest and easiest option.
