My boyfriend is a yacht captain, so we sail around the islands every summer, and we spend part of the year living in Mallorca. Plus, his family had a house in the north of Ibiza for years, so I’ve gotten to know the island pretty well, way beyond the party scene you may have in mind, but there is so much more than that!

Getting to and Around Ibiza

How to get to Ibiza

The most common way to get to Ibiza is to fly into Ibiza Airport, then take a taxi (about 20 minutes) or bus (Line 10) to Ibiza Town, if you are staying there.

I usually fly to Ibiza with Iberia Express, Vueling, Volotea and Iberia, they offer great deals and frequent flights from mainland Spain and major European cities.

⛴️ You can also get to Ibiza by ferry from cities like Barcelona or Valencia. It’s a longer journey (around 6–8 hours), but it can be a fun experience, especially if you’re bringing your own car or just want to enjoy the scenic ride across the Mediterranean. I usually take the ferry with Balearia but all companies work well!

Getting Around and Renting a Car in Ibiza

Once you land, you’ve got three main options for getting around:

🚗 Renting a car is the best if you want to explore Ibiza at your own pace, especially the charming villages and secluded coves. I usually do this when I visit by land and love the freedom! My favorite company in the Balearic islands is Record GO. 🙂

🚕 Private Transfer: If you prefer a private transfer, I usually use this company. The ride to the city center takes around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic.

🚌 Public buses are also a good option: they connect Ibiza town with most major towns and beaches, and they’re very budget-friendly. Perfect if you’re staying put in one area or don’t feel like driving, which then I would suggest staying in Ibiza town!

Las Mariposas has such a special vibe. Everything feels carefully looked after, from the pool and gardens to the traditional finca-style rooms. The location is perfect, surrounded by nature but just 10 minutes from Ibiza town and easy to get to other parts of town.. Breakfast is fresh and made to order, and Sofia and her family are genuinely lovely. This is one of the family run finca hotels in Ibiza and the Balearic Islands we love the most.

Best Time of year to Visit a Finca Hotel in Ibiza, Spain

It really depends on what you’re after:

Summer (mid-June to August): Lively, hot, and buzzing with nightlife, beach parties, and festivals. Great if you’re into the full Ibiza energy — but expect crowds and higher prices.

Spring & Autumn (April to mid-June, September to October): My favorite time to visit! Specially September and October. Warm, quieter, and perfect for beach days, hikes, and exploring. September still has great vibes and events without the peak-season chaos.

Winter (November to March): Peaceful and local. Not beach weather (generally), but perfect for slow days, cozy cafés, and discovering a more authentic side of the island.

Ultimately, the best time to visit Ibiza depends on your preferences. If love to swim in warm water, you’re into the party scene or love vibrant atmospheres and crowds, summer is the time to go. For a more relaxed experience with fewer crowds, consider spring or autumn. And if you’re seeking tranquility and a taste of local life, winter could be perfect for you.
