Getting to Dubrovnik by Air

Dubrovnik has an international airport about 20 km from the Old Town, with direct flights from many European cities, especially during the tourist season. From the airport, you can reach the city center by bus, taxi, shuttle, or private transfer.

Getting to Dubrovnik by Bus

Long-distance buses from other Croatian cities and neighboring countries are frequent, comfortable, and usually cheaper than trains.

I use this app when I travel by train around Europe (even when going from country to country) and it is so easy!! I love having all my tickets in the same place.

Getting to Dubrovnik by Ferry

Dubrovnik is also linked by ferry to several Croatian islands, like Korčula, Mljet, and the Elaphiti islands, as well as to Italy (Ancona, Bari). Ferries are perfect if you’re island-hopping or bringing a car. Get your tickets to get to Dubrovnik by ferry here.

Renting a Car in Dubrovnik

You don’t really need a car to explore Dubrovnik itself, as the Old Town is compact and easy to navigate on foot.

However, I highly recommend renting a car for a road trip around Croatia, having your own vehicle makes it easy to discover stunning coastal towns, hidden beaches, and breathtaking national parks at your own pace. Always a great idea when exploring a country!

  • Arriving to Dubrovnik by car: Driving to Dubrovnik from other parts of Croatia or neighboring countries is possible, but keep in mind the border crossing at Neum in Bosnia & Herzegovina, which can cause delays. Roads are well-maintained, and having a car is handy if you want to explore nearby beaches or inland towns.
