We decided to climb the stairs of the Eiffel Tower, yes, actually walk all the way up, and somehow stumbled upon a beautiful ice-skating rink inside the tower with only a few people on it. We skated at sunset above the city, laughing, slightly freezing, and completely in awe. It was one of the most magical and unexpected moments of our lives!

Paris is extremely well connected internationally. Most travelers arrive via Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), the city’s main international airport, or Orly Airport, which serves many European routes.

Getting Around Paris

Paris is incredibly easy to navigate thanks to its efficient public transport system.

  • Metro: The fastest and most practical way to get around the city.
  • RER trains: Ideal for longer distances (like airports or Versailles).
  • Buses: A scenic way to see the city while moving between neighborhoods.
  • Walking: Many central areas like Le Marais, Saint-Germain-des-Prés or Montmartre are best explored on foot.

Taxis and ride-shares are widely available, but honestly, between the metro and walking, you’ll rarely need anything else. I love taking cycling tours too!

Le Ballu is set on a quiet street just a short walk from the Moulin Rouge, making it peaceful yet perfectly located for exploring. The design is super beautiful and modern but still feels warm, and everything is really thoughtfully done. The rooms are spacious (which isn’t always a given in Paris!), breakfast is genuinely good, and the staff are incredibly kind!

The rooms are beautiful, the bathrooms are next level, and there’s even a gorgeous pool and bar you’ll actually want to spend time in. The location is perfect, and the whole stay just feels special from start to finish.

Hotel des Grandes Ecoles is one of those unique hotels in Paris that just feels like a little secret. I love how calm it is, it genuinely feels like a green oasis behind a courtyard in the middle of the Latin Quarter.

It’s traditional and charming (real keys, a courtyard cat, that old-school Parisian vibe). The breakfast is lovely, the staff are incredibly kind, and the location is perfect for walking pretty much everywhere!

Brach Paris is one of the most unique hotels in Paris because of its views and overall excellent service. It’s proper luxury but in a cool way: the rooms are beautifully designed with beautiful decor, amazing bathrooms, and such comfortable beds!

The restaurant is honestly incredible (worth booking even if you’re not staying there, this is what we did so we could try it and check out the hotel), and the whole hotel has this great atmosphere from the second you arrive. It’s in a lovely, more upscale neighborhood so it doesn’t feel touristy!

Grands Boulevards Experimental is easily one of my favourite unique hotels in Paris. It’s beautiful and full of those brilliant little details that just make a stay feel special, from the gorgeous bath products to the insanely comfortable beds.

The decor is fun but still very Parisian, there’s a great restaurant downstairs, two bars (including a rooftop), and the location is perfect, super central and easy to walk everywhere.

  • If you prefer having a swimming pool, book Hôtel Monte Cristo, the indoor pool and hammam are stunning, or choose Château Voltaire if you want something more classic and chic with a beautiful indoor pool and spa right in the heart of Paris. If you prefer a super luxurious stay: check out Villa-des-Prés.

However, generally, the most popular times to visit are during the spring (April to June) and fall (September to October) seasons. Additionally, tourist crowds tend to be more manageable compared to the peak summer months.

Summer (July and August) in Paris can be quite warm, and it’s also the busiest tourist season, so expect larger crowds at popular attractions and higher accommodation prices. But it is also my favorite. Even though I have visited in all seasons, summer is for sure my favorite!

Winter (December to February) can be cold, but Paris during the holiday season has its own magical charm with festive decorations and events. Plus, you’ll likely encounter fewer tourists and can enjoy shorter lines at attractions. It can also be very special if it snows!
