We absolutely loved visiting Hiroshima, the last time we went, we spent five days there, and it ended up being one of the most interesting and memorable stops of our trip. There’s something about the city that really stays with you, from its history to its peaceful atmosphere and great food scene.

While we were there, we also visited Miyajima and stayed at a beautiful ryokan, which made the experience even more special.

It’s the kind of place I would 100% recommend adding to your itinerary in Japan, thoughtful, unique, and surprisingly interesting at the same time.

KIRO Hiroshima is such a cool, design-forward stay, definitely one of the best hotels in Hiroshima if you’re into that slightly industrial, edgy vibe. The interiors are super stylish, the rooms feel spacious (especially for Japan), and the whole place has this calm atmosphere. The location is also perfect, walking distance to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. And the pool bar (set in a former swimming pool) is such a fun touch!

If you are traveling with kids or in a group, this is such a great find and easily one of the best hotels in Hiroshima for that. The rooms are seriously spacious (which is rare in Japan), with separate areas and a kitchenette, great for longer trips. It’s modern, super clean, and in a really convenient location close to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. It just makes everything feel easy and comfortable, especially when traveling as a family!

The rooftop bar is honestly such a vibe, especially with the welcome drink (love that touch)! Also, the breakfast is actually worth waking up for!

For the best hotels in Hiroshima that don’t break the bank, Nest Hotel Hiroshima Hatchobori is such a solid option. We stayed here in summer 2024 for 3 nights and honestly, it was amazing value for money. The location was great, walking distance to pretty much everything and right by the tram, so getting around was super easy. Rooms are on the smaller side, but they have complimentary coffee and little baked goods in the morning, which is such a nice touch.

If you want something a bit more elevated, Hilton Hiroshima really delivers. From the super professional service to the spacious, spotless rooms with beautiful views, it is less of a unique hotel but had to include it on my list as is it definitely one of the best hotels in Hiroshima. The location is great too, an easy walk to the Peace Park, and the facilities are honestly a highlight (the pool, spa, gym…). It just feels like a proper, top-class hotel experience!

Best Things to Do in Hiroshima

Some of the best things to do in Hiroshima start with the city’s most powerful sites like Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome, which are honestly something you just have to experience in person.

After that, I’d switch gears completely and head to the water, because the ferry to Miyajima Island feels like stepping into another world. The floating torii gate, wandering deer, and quiet temple paths make it one of the most magical places we visited in Japan.
