Getting to and Around Fuerteventura

How to Get to Fuerteventura, Spain

Getting to Fuerteventura by Air

The easiest and fastest way to get to Fuerteventura is by plane. The island has its own airport which receives direct flights from Madrid, Mallorca, Ibiza or Barcelona, and many European cities.

I usually fly with Iberia ExpressVueling, Volotea and Iberia. when coming from mainland Spain.

The airport is just a 10-minute drive from the capital, Puerto del Rosario, and well connected to the rest of the island.

Getting to Fuerteventura by Ferry

If you’re already in the Canary Islands, you can also reach Fuerteventura by ferry. There are regular routes from Lanzarote (Playa Blanca to Corralejo) that take just 30 minutes, as well as from Gran Canaria. It’s a great option if you’re island hopping or traveling with a car or campervan.

Getting Around and Renting a Car in Fuerteventura

Renting a car in Fuerteventura, Spain, is an excellent way to explore the island’s diverse landscapes and attractions at your own pace. With a car, you can easily access remote beaches, scenic viewpoints, and placed that may not be reachable by public transportation.

Fuerteventura boasts stunning natural beauty, including expansive sandy beaches, rugged coastlines, and volcanic landscapes, which are best experienced by driving around the island.

Conclusion: the best way to explore Fuerteventura is by car, distances are short, the roads are easy to drive, and you’ll want to stop at all the wild beaches and charming little towns

Best Time of year to Visit an Adults Only hotel in Fuerteventura

The best time to visit Fuerteventura is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months.

During these periods, the weather is pleasantly warm with temperatures ranging from the mid-20s to low 30s Celsius (70s to 80s Fahrenheit), making it ideal for outdoor activities such as beach days, hiking, and exploring the island’s natural beauty.

While summer (June to August) brings warmer temperatures and is perfect for beachgoers and water sports enthusiasts, it can also be quite hot and crowded, especially in August.

Winter (December to February) is milder than many other European destinations, but temperatures can still drop in the evenings, and there is a chance of occasional rainfall.

Overall, the spring and autumn months provide the most comfortable weather and the best balance between warm temperatures and fewer crowds, making them the ideal times to visit Fuerteventura.

Best eSIM Option in Spain

As we are Spanish and live in Spain most of the year, we don’t need an eSim here, but when we travel we always use this eSIM because it’s the cheapest and easiest option.
